Costa Rica Scuba Diving & Snorkeling

Costa Rica Scuba Diving. Caño Island, Drake Bay,  is one of the best places for diving in Costa Rica we  leave each day at 7:00 a. m. from Drake Bay, the most beautiful dive destination on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. This wonderful place is often compared to Coco Island, which Jacque Cousteau said was one of the world’s top dive sites.

Our diving groups are small and always accompanied by PADI divemasters, assistant instructors or instructors. Although we are known for the quality of our service we are equally proud of our diving safety record, with not a single serious problem in our five year existence.  We also give courses from Open Water through Assistant Instructor, a number of specialty courses.

Pick up is at Playa Colorada in Agujitas at 7:00 a.m. you will need to reserve and prepay in advance since normally we are  fully booked in the high season. Contact us if you need transportation from your hotel.

Day 1
Scuba diving at Isla del Caño (two dives including all equipment)

Voted by many best dive location in mainland Costa Rica, Caño Island is home to an amazing variety of marine life. This area is a protected marine park. Fishing is prohibited for 3 miles around the island and the collecting of shells and harvesting of other marine life is also prohibited. You will encounter both pelagic (open ocean) and reef fish. If you like to see large schools of jacks and barracudas, sting rays and manta rays, and if you like sharks, you will enjoy your dives here. Dive sites range from 10 meters (30 feet) to 40 meters (120 feet), and current ranges from mild to fairly strong. For a description of the most popular locations please see Pirate Cove Hotel's recommended diving sites. We leave Drake Bay each morning at 7:00 a.m. The island lies about 15 kilometers offshore and our trip takes about 50 minutes. The island is just far enough off the shore to keep the seasonal rains from affecting the visibility in the diving site, which makes it a great diving site.Upon arrival we check in at the island before our first dive. We then return to the island for our surface interval. Then will do our second dive and return to Drake Bay at around 1:30 p. m. We will have lunch in Hotel Pirate Cove.We offer water, natural juice, fruits and cookies in the boat It is a smoke free area, so smoking is prohibited Two dives including all equipment and Guide, round trip transport, all entrance fees and lunch - $140 Three dives including all equipment and Guide, round trip transport, all entrance fees and lunch - $195

Day 3
Resort Course (non-certification one day experience)

Many divers consider that the PADI Rescue Diver Course the most challenging and at the same time, the best course they have taken as a recreational diver. Statistically, scuba diving is safer than bowling, and yet if an emergency arises, Rescue Divers are confident enough in their skills that they know they can help their buddies and other divers. According to PADI, “you learn to prevent and manage problems in the water, and become more confident in your skills as a diver…”

Also, the Emergency First Response Training, given as part of the course, meet the CPR and first aid training requirements and all professional-level ratings. This course is based on internationally recognised medical guidelines for emergency care.

This course is seriously fun and essential for all divers who want to maximise their experiences, both in and out of the water.
